Bookstart Volunteer

Aim of the Role

We are looking for volunteers to support the running of our exciting new Bookstart Corner project, delivering 1:1 sessions to families in the Great Yarmouth/Gorleston area, in their own homes or other settings

In particular we want our volunteer to build on their personal strengths, skills and qualities to:

Specific Tasks

  • Travel to and support families 1:1 within the home or other settings
  • Build relationships with parent/children
  • Follow the Bookstart Corner programme with children/parents
  • Encourage and support parents in reading/enjoying books
  • Promote the wider community/Children's Centre Programme

This role is for you if ...

  • You are friendly, welcoming, approachable and interested in working with children aged 0-5 years and their families
  • You would like to work 1:1 in the homes of local families or other settings supported by our Bookstart Coordinator
  • You enjoy books, rhymes and reading and have good literacy skills
  • You are interested in undertaking training, such as safeguarding, first aid and more
