Join the half term challenge!

The Nexus STEM Club will challenge students to build a Rube Goldberg Machine out of Lego. Once built students will be able to explore different types of mechanisms as a marble is carried across levers, ramps, switches, conveyors and many other structures as it traverses the construction.

A Rube Goldberg machine is a deliberately complex contraption in which a series of devices that perform simple tasks are linked together to produce a domino effect in which activating one device triggers the next device in sequence.

The challenge incorporates elements of Mechanical and Electronics, link with STEM, and will develop design and team working skills.

A guest speaker has been invited to talk to the students about the application of mechanisms in the engineering industry.
