Inter-School Construction Challenge
The Nexus Centre has staged its first all-day Inter-School Construction Challenge!
13 teams took part, comprising year 9/10 students (aged 14/15 years) from Lynn Grove Academy, Cliff Park Ormiston Academy, University Technical College Norwich, Ormiston Denes Academy and Pakefield School.
The students' brief was to design and build a bridge to span the lake at Pleasurewood Hills. It had to be fully accessible to people with limited mobility, carry at least two people and use the motor provided. To complete the challenge participants would need to use team building and problem solving, as well as construction skills.
The event was supported by builders Morgan Sindall, Pleasurewood Hills, East Norfolk Sixth Form and East Coast College. Declared a great success, the challenge will become an annual event and next year's challenge has already been planned for the week before Easter.
